First time going this year. Are all the events and venders and such in one area. I saw something about admission packages for the week to the venue. Are there things to ride around to or should I buy the group admission tickets. Everyone says it is a great time. Just looking for some general info from folks who have been there.
Gettysburg is a small area. I have not been there for Bike week other than to ride the demos. There is only 1 hotel in the area, if you can get into that hotel that would put you in the center of everything. GBurg HD is a pretty nice store and they have a lot of events. The vendors are all in one area within .25 miles of GBurg HD.
If you can't get into the hotel, there.. there are other options near by... pm me with hotels that you are considering.
I often ride out that way, there are many nice rides GBurg west. I really like 30 West through Gettysburg towards Bedford. Nice views, nice hills, and little traffic.
The events, venders and bands, are located at the All Star Complex. Gettysburg HD also sets up for the event week but with mostly food venders and and the Wall of Death (wow I wouldn't want to miss a chance to see that again). The two are about 5 miles apart, straight north on Rt 15 and east on Rt 30 about .25 miles.
I'd suggest that if you don't want to get bored, go in the evening for the live bands because after about an hour you'll have seen all there is to see. The biggest attraction there is the helicopter rides.
As far as things to see in the area, hell it's Gettysburg, there's more history of this country in that area than anywhere else.
They also hold Poker Runs each day if you want to see the area that way.
Another thing to keep in mind with Gettysburg: The official tour group has a battlefield tour on your Harley. My wife and I did it last year and it was very informative and cool. The guide was on his own bike and we made many stops.
Hey thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond. The information was great. I actually have a cabin at the KOA outside of Gettysburg already rented so accomodations are not the problem. I am a history buff that is why we are actually coming in early and staying late. Thanks again.
