Road Trip Planning Tools???
I was wondering if there are any helpful tools out there to make a road trip easier? I have made quite a few 500 mi trips with just a local map but i am wanting to make a trip from KC, Mo to Virginia. I was wondering if there are any helpful tools on the internet that i can plan and keep track of points of interest along the way. I also hate main highways and prefer to keep on side roads and want to keep a scenic route out and back. I have played around a bit with Mapquest and it seems ok but i was wondering if there is anything better?

Google maps worked greaat for me, I planned my trip out in daily rides and then printed them all out and had them with me for the ride. I also used the HOG map to find the Scenic Drives that were along the way and factored them into my trip as well.

I use Google, HD Hog Trip Planner and Street Atlas USA. Then I put the route I decide on in my Road Tech GPS. However I feel I am chained to the route sometimes. Someday I am just going to take off and go where I end up. Good luck.

Checkout AAA.com. You can create your own Triptik. You can select several options, it even shows construction info. I've been using it as well as the HD planner for my trips.
