N Rim/Utah trip...with pics!!!
I've been to many of the same spots over multiple trips, with a little better luck on the weather. Your pictures do a very good job of capturing the beauty in 2D, but I encourage others to see it with their own eyes. It takes 3D to appreciate the magnitude of the scenery. It's incredible and well worth the ride. You can't imagine the experience.
As far as the weather, it wasn't all bad. We got rained big-time the first day, but that part of it wasn't too exciting scenery-wise, so it was no big loss. We got nailed on the 5th day, which was supposed to be the prettiest section from what my research showed (oh well!). That road was the most "technical" of the trip, not to mention tons of cows who liked hanging out in the road and plenty of deer crossing signs. All that made for some pretty good tension in my shoulders...I kept trying to relax, but kept finding my shoulders up around my ears!
Arizona was mostly sunny and Zion and Bryce were rain-free..well, we went through Bryce in the late afternoon/early evening & encountered a little rain (plus, a ton of deer sightings...nerve-wracking). The light at that time of day, which would have been perfect for great photos, was a wash because of the rainclouds. Once we left Bryce, the weather deteriorated, but we somehow dodged most of the heavy rain. The worst part is/was feeling like the abominable snow-woman wearing all that gear.
After a terrifying wind/rain experience in Wyoming, the rain in UT didn't seem so bad since it didn't bring with it 75mph winds! Give me rain any day over strong wind! Plus, I decided the clouds saved us from some potentially scorching heat!
I plan on going back in the future to see the Canyonlands & Monument Valley (plus all of Arches). My brother and his wife have already said they'll go. Next summer?
And I have never been there - but I must absolutely go before I die.
Because it is amazing!!
And sorry for the...
