I got a sport tote trailer, $600 from a dealer in my area, pulled it 3 times back in the mid 90's with my yamaha venture, once to maine, once to yellowstone and one time camping for 10 years it has been sitting in the garage taking up space (i'm turning into a packrat like my dad!) I just didn't like pulling a trailer, if i was going to pull one i would go with the n-line if i had it to do over, they lean with the bike

Place everything that you THINK you need to take on a bed or table. Elliminate 50-75% of that pile...Pack it tight, and go.

If you search the Internet, you will find tons of hints, tricks, and even packing lists..

have to agree with that, if you think you might need it, leave it, most motels have washers and dryers if not there is a laundry close its easyer to do the wash every few days than to drag a bike full of junk around makes getting ready to leave every morning harder plus if you do want to get that "world's bigest ball of twine" tee shirt you dont have room for it..

My dad and I spent 2 wks going from Mn to DC, then Nashville and home in 1979. He gave me a small area, told me if it fit I could take it. Have lived by that since - always leaving a bit of room for sovieners.
When I met hubby I remember him watching me bring stuff out to pack in my dyna saddle bags - "You won't be able to get all that in there" Yeap, watch me! LOL

Roll it tight, use ziplock bags to get the air out. etc.... I now have a RK - one side is bike and riding gear, other is clothes etc. Longer trips I take my pack. Only thing is I take my mini lap top - that takes up space.

I have a permanant list for long trips. Rain gear, medicines, glasses, charging cords, etc... I actually got it off the HD site. Saved it to word and adjust it for the trip

When I was 12 I rode with a mover...when I commented on how much he could fit in the truck he said "the trick is...don't pack any air"

Three poly wicking T's and two pair of Levi's, 3 pair of wicking underwear like Ex Officio or REI and three pair of Poly/cotton blend socks. Wash when you can't stand the smell anymore. Can usually get 6 or more days of riding out of that set up before I have to do laundry. Depends on the weather and days out on the road as to how long I can go before doing laundry.

Riding an Electra Glide Standard....Hard Boxes, NO TOUR PACK.
For a 2-4 Day Road Trip, I always Pack the following Items. Figuring When I Ride, I Always Wear a Pair of Boots, Jeans and T-Shirt w/Gloves/Glasses.
(Helmet Where Law Required)

In Hard Box; SOFT GEAR:
One Extra Pair of clean Jeans to Wear @ Dinner/Motel..etc.
(4) T-Shirts. If They are Cheap T's, They can Be used the Next Morning to Wipe Bike Off and Throw Away...
(3) Pair Socks
(1) Pair Gym Shorts to Sleep in
(1) Rain Jacket
(1) Denim Jacket or Vest
(1) Light Sweater
(1) Long Sleeve Western Shirt
(4) Bandanas
(1) Pair Rain Gators
(1) BaseBall Cap
In Colder Weather, I Add Leather Jacket, Scarf and Wool Cap
NOTE..For 6-10 Days, I Add One Xtra Pair of Jeans and
Three Extra T-Shirts and Socks and either Sandals or Sneakers)

HARD GEAR:
Cell Phone & Charger
Maps and Emergency Numbers
(1) Toiletry Bag... Aspirin/Band Aids/Sun Block/Lighter
(1) Small Sleeping Bag
(1) Wool Army Blanket, or The Airline Blankets are Perfect.
(1) Complete Tool Kit (Vice Pliers, Wrenches, Screw Drivers..etc)
Plastic Ties
(6) xtra Bungee Cords
Roll Duct Tape
(1) ZipLok Bag w/PaperTowels inside
(1) Digital Camera
Flash Light w/Fresh Batteries
(1) Smith & Wesson .38spl Revolver w/ 15 Rounds Ammo (I Have a Permit, or I Have it Unloaded and LOCKED...Yes, It's Legal)
(1) Fixed Blade 5" Camping Knife
(2) PaperBack Books
(1) Deck of Cards

I Do Not Carry Food or Cooler... I Stop for Gas, get a Soda/Snacks when I want. I Stop when Tired and Stay mostly at small Motels, Eat @ Diners/BBQ..etc. But Not against Camping when I Must. I Do not bring a Tent. If I Think Camping will be Greater than 50% Chance, I will Pack a 8x8 Plastic ground Tarp.
This ALL Fits into the Hard Boxes of My Harley Electra Glide, Except The Sleeping Bag/Blanket/Leather Jacket... That Gets Tied to the Back.
God Bless The Road Ahead....
