We rode from Charlotte to KW over thanksgiving. Duval Street, Mallory square for the sunset celebration. Take the old trolley when you get there for a tour of the island. You can get on and off this one, you can't get off teh conch train tour. Parking is difficult at best but one local meter maid told us if you park in a spot and move to another one, take your ticket with you. If it still has time on it you won't have to buy another at a different space. A popular item is the electric cars for rent. Lots of B&B's in KW.
Watch out for deer on Big Pine Key. Pepe's restaurant is great local place. Blond giraffe for key lime pie. Lots of homeless folks but they never bothered us, just very friendly. Since there is a reef offshore, they have to import sand and the beach is kind of well not like you think it out to be. HAd a mud feel to it to us. Lots of cheap azzed tourist traps selling the same stuff you can get in any tourist beach town.
Sunsets are wonderful. Food is a little pricey especially on Duvall. You will enjoy. Wish I was back there now.
