Planning a trip from HOU to New Orleans sometime in February weekend as the weather is still cold...
If anybody from the area wants to join, they are most welcome...
Also I'm very new to the HOU area (1 week old) so any routes suggestion would be welcomed
There is about a 50% chance you may have some nice weather in Feb. You may want to check Mardi Gras dates, if you are not into traffic jambs, I would suggest to wait until after Mardi Gras. Of course if you want to make Mardi Gras, parades usually start at least a week before. Also be aware of many blocked streets during parades.
As for your trip, I-10 has to be the most boring ride there is. I've traveled this section many times before I retired from an oil company. If you have the time, jumping on Hwy. 90 or 190 may be an option. Watch the speed limit on the spillway bridge (I-10) over the Achafalya (s?), slower speed and usually state troopers running radar.
Did that in the cage 2 weeks before Katrina hit...Dayam it was hot...went down through Houma... Hate at a nice little place in Breaux Bridges and was good tunes being playd live...Drove through Lafayette...it was nice to listen to French Cajun "Acadien" music ... I am Acadien from New Brunswick Canada so i felt like i had ties there....Deportation of 1755 and all....I am going back but on the Hog next time...Have fun. The next time i am staying off the Highways and hitting the back coastal roads....
