Not going to argue with you. I'll simply state that in the past 15 or so years, (again, I do not go every year) I have seen plenty of bikes taking to the sidelines due to heat. Including some liquid cooled types spewing their liquid everywhere. No misconception, just simple factual observation. However, they did change the direction of the parade about 7 years ago. Since then it does seem the riders are able to run much faster.
The dealer in Frederick, MD has escorted ride. I hooked up there a couple 3 years ago. There were a few hundred that rode in on 270 to 495 and it was pretty cool. The police block off all the entrances to the highway and there are no cages to contend with.
Not going this year due to a New England ride at the same time.
I have a question for you guys that go a lot. Is there much in the way of theft of bikes, or stuff off of bikes in the parking lots and so forth? We would be there with camping gear and all our stuff that's important to us.
Hasn't been a problem for us yet. I don't even lock the bike on Sunday in the parking lot. With 500 thousand bikes in the area that weekend, I'm sure theft happens. I'd be more worried about it at a hotel parking lot versus any of the activities happening over the weekend.
