Lots of FS campgrounds heading up into the 'Tooths west of town. (google Custer NF, Beartooth ranger district). Some nice small-water trout fishing up there. Bring your 3 wt. and tan and black EHCs in #18-20
In town, Red Lodge has lots of nice places. I always stay at the Yodeler. But lots of nice spots.
During the rally, you *have* to go to the Snow Creek saloon! The Creek is always a party, but, man, during the rally........whoa!
The rally is fun, meant to attract the Sturgis crowd to Red Lodge, but worth it. Red Lodge is my second favorite town in Montana, after Bozeman, of course. The whole event is fun. Standard rally sort of stuff. But a good time in a gem of a town.
As I recall, most of the rally stuff is on the north end of town, in the rodeo arena grounds. The Yodeler is on the south end of town. Any place in Red Lodge will be nice and clean--it's just that kind of town. So look online for a place that fits your budget and check Google Maps (or whatever) to see where it is. "Downtown" is not even a mile long down Main St. The Creek is towards the south end of town, and I guarantee that you'll end up there, too. I could stay down at the Yodeler and be at the rally in 15-20 mins.
Camping will be up and out of town, not within walking distance. Have you checked the rally webpage to see if they allow camping on the rodeo grounds?
I'll be riding in from Calgary with some friends and we are staying in Billings and then on Friday morning into Redlodge. We'll spend a couple hours in town and then head over the pass to Powell.
Snow Creek Saloon you say, ok we'll check it out.
Last year we decided to skip Sturgis and do the Beartooth Rally. This was the forth time we have been to Red Lodge, but the first time for the Rally. We had a blast, Red Lodge is very biker friendly. Most of the events are at the fairgrounds, but downtown Red Lodge is one big party with live bands.
Sounds like it would be a great time. We stayed at the KOA campground and it was a nice place. I believe the creek was just on the other side of us. Red Lodge is one of my favorite towns I have seen. There was a bar on the south end of main street we had a blast in. They were all fun though mostly

ON the south end of town?
That would be the Snow Creek Saloon. The Creek is fun *any* time of the year.
But also check out the new restaurant at the brewery on the north end of town. Pretty good stuff.
myself and some friends stopped by there a few years ago,on the way from somewhere else, was getting kinda late when we pulled in.everything was full, but we had stopped in a parking lot to decide what to do.I noticed a 20 ft wide grassy strip between the parking lots, and the first person I talked to was the proprietor of the place,he said ti was fine if we wanted to pitch tents there,so we did.Turned out the folks hanging out in the back of the metal building were cops and firefighters,i sat and had a beer with em,then we went and partied, was a great time, very biker friendly.plus,we had the cops watching our stuff, lol.
It was all unplanned,we just happened to be there about dusk.
