trip plan -gps
does anyone know if HD is going to come up with a way for me to plan a trip with the help of the trip planner on their website and then download it to the gps that came installed on my bike. it doesnt seem to make much sense that i can download to an aftermarket gps but not to the product they sold me with the bike.
thanks for the link, that is the ride planner i am talking a about. that ride planner supports downloading to other gps devices but there is no mechanism to down load to the HK indash radio/gps unit that came on my 09 ultra. i am hoping there is a way as i am planning a roundtrip from Nebraska to California and back and it would be nice to have my trip pre planned and loaded on my gps.
Can you upload a .gpx file to your unit?
If so, you can do a manual export from the HD planner to create a .gpx file on your desktop, then upload it to your gps.
I did this for my pop's new nuvi 1490t. Pretty simple.
I've also found that I can upload the files to google maps. Unfortunatly, once in gmaps you need to do a lot of clean-up of the way points and have gmaps do the directions between each.
It's not too difficult, but teedious for a large route.
The good thing is I can then get the routes and directions on my cell phone which has a gps reciever and gets google maps.
