Default BRP: Your Recovery Dollars at Work!

There is a sign at the US221/Blue Ridge Parkway intersection that reads: "Your Recovery Dollars at Work." Indeed they are!
I have just returned from Spruce Pine to Linville,NC via the section of Parkway that was completely blocked after the Christmas ice storm. It is truly amazing to see the amount of work that has been accomplished in about three weeks, and how well the crews cleaned up the mess. You can see how much timber that was destroyed by looking off the overlooks between Grandfather Mtn. and Linville Falls, it is similar to the damage from Hurricane Hugo back in the 80's. Check here for detour updates, http://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm
Ride safe, keep in mind there are still some potholes on this section, and there will be mowers in the coming weeks, as they are behind schedule with their work as well.
