Just back from a 5 day road trip, Elyria, Oh to Lexington and Eastern Kentucky! Wanted to pass on a tip that may save you some money. We were hitting dealers along the way as many do and asked the dealer we were at if they could recommend a hotel to stay at. They told us about a nearby hotel and to ask for the Harley discount. We did just that and saved apx $30.00 for the night. Two of the three dealers we asked about hotels had local discounts at decent hotels set up. As much as I have traveled never thought of asking but it did save us some bucks.
Find out where you are going and research the largest companies in the area and ask for a discount for the largest one you find. Chamber of Commerce for most cities are great for this.
ie: San Antonio, TX is home to a Toyota factory. I asked if the hotel we were staying at offered a discount for Toyota and I got a suite overlooking the riverwalk normally $259 for $138.
This works everywhere. I've been using it for over ten years since I traveled to SC and listened in while waiting behind someone who got a room for less than I had booked, just by asking for a Nortel discount. Live and learn...
