Default Brp entirely open!?

From an article today on "goblueridge.net".......

Parkway to be Open End-To-End By Week's End
Written by Steve Frank

As it celebrates its 75th year—and just before the Independence Day holiday, the 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway plans to be open end to end by this weekend—with caveats.

The Asheville Citizen-Times quotes Mike Molling, Parkway chief of maintenance as saying “This will be the first time the entire parkway will be open in about 18 months.”

A feverish effort has been put forward to clear the roadway from debris from the harsh winter and clear rockslides and other troubles. Molling said that some areas would be single-lanes, but at least would be open without detours. Visitation at the Blue Ridge Parkway, the most-visited unit in the National Park Service, with nearly 18 million in 2009, was down about 36 percent from January through April over the same time period last year, according to Parkway numbers.

I can verify from Little Switzerland north to Hwy 421 at Deep Gap, NC. The Parkway website says all of Virginia is open, so that leaves a small space from 421 to the Va. line. Anyone rode that?

It is all open, rode the section south of Asheville towards Cherokee yesterday. From mile post 399 to 405 there are 2 sections that are one lane only, controlled with traffic lights. Local rumor has it the the traffic lights will not detect motorcycles.

North of Asheville has lots of repaving, expect long delays waiting on the pilot cars to shuttle you through the repaving.

Just rode the BRP "end to end"
On June 16,2010 it was closed from MP 399 and MP 405 but it was supposed to open by the fourth,
There are many areas "open" but restricted to one lane for repaving

It is open with a stop light added for traffic control and is a 1 lane road in that area north of asheville. Long delays can happen there just depepnds on amount of traffic ahead of you. The part that is down to one lane is between mile markers 399 and 405
