i saw spare bulbs and that should include a spare headlight.

the list that you can get is great. i found one somewhere but have not been able to find the source.

but you can make a similar one just using excel or something like it.

what i like to do is create the list, categorize it, and have 2 check boxes for each item. one check box is to say i want to take that on this trip. the second one is for when i pack it so i can track what i got and what i don't have. after the trip, i will update the list and add or delete items as necessary. that way i always have a master list from which to work. each trip might be a bit different so i only check what i need.

a couple extra things that might not have been mentioned
- duct tape. just a small amount, can be wrapped around anything
- phone charger - seems i have forgetten mine too many times
- dr bonner soap - good for all kinda of things
- matches (strike anywhere, maybe waterproof)
- small knife
- sunglasses
- bandana (has many uses)

Don't forget a spare tire too!

Actually I'm not real sure I would have the room to carry all that some have listed, and have some clothes as well....

If I have a known destination, I'm not afraid to ship some of my stuff ahead. I have used UPS and the U.S. Postal service to ship excess bagage on many occassions. Works great and saves a lot of weight on a long trip.

Each trip you take you will learn what you really need and what you can do without. Depending on where you are going will help you decide what to take, i.e. poulated areas, Towns close by, then you can buy stuff. If you are camping compared to Hotels everynight for instance, sleeping bags, air matress. Depends on what you can tolerate. Personally I like a good night sleep wherever I lay my head. As for the Firepower, well each to his own. You won't need it on the Dragon because of all the cops in the area. You go to Canada, can't take it anyway. Out in the Boonies and the National Parks, absolutely. Personally I prefer the .45 or 10mm over the 9, but that is for another thread.

Guns are prohibited in some/all National Parks.

Not anymore...thank God. Know your state laws though. By the way, does anyone know if an AR-15 with a collapsible stock will fit in a saddlebag?

No, they are not.

Along with the stuff that stays on in the saddlebags, I pack one tShirt, 1 clean pair of undies. Every night I can rinse the shirt and undies. Chaps help keep my jeans clean.

Most excellent post, every person has added great advice. Thanks as we will be doing our first camping trip this summer for 7 nights! Not the same as hotel but looking forward to it

Keep the suggestions coming for us Newbies, it's appreciated.
