One of my favorites is and has been mention east on Chinook Pass with a stop at Whistling Jacks for lunch then up the Yakima river canyon to Ellensburg then over Blewett Pass and west back over Hwy 2 and home I live in Snohomish right off HWY 2. Another favorite and I do it at least once a year is what I call the Cascade Loop east on HWY 2 over Stevens Pass then north on 97 to Winthrop usually spend the night there then west over the North Cascade HWY 20 at Rockport I go south along the Sauk river to Darrington then onto HWY 9 and home. There are many others HWY 101 around the Olympic Peninsula is a great ride. The San Juan Islands are beautiful and Rattle Snake Pass from Clarkston to Enterprise OR in the SE corner of the state is another great ride as someone else has mention
You must of seen the Young ladies in the raft flashing too.
Actually I was talking more of the 4 different law enforcement agencies monitering traffic.
Although I definately noticed the raft floats on the river. One of those float parties pickup person about caused me whiplash last summer. After rounding a long sweeping turn there she was in the tinest of bikinis splayed out on the hood of an old pickup truck soaking up the rays.
That time I was heading toward Yakima, and I just gotta add, Boomers on So. first has about the coldest fat tire on draught in the universe.
Sorry guys, I meant for this to be primarily about rides in the amazing PNW, but now I have a service question. Any one know of any places that do chrome work here in WA? I'm looking to get my fork lowers chromed. Why pay $400 if I can get them dipped for less. Thanks in advance. I'm near Tacoma, but anywhere in the state would do. Thanks again.
I had some items chromed a few years ago. I would be very surprised if you would save much having something chromed as opposed to an exchange.
There is a place called Queen City in Mukilteo, this guy is not inexpensive. the work is first rate ,top notch but pricey.
The Place in Seattle I use to go to was called Show chrome, but they were not fast, up to 4-5 weks sometimes and then again not inexpensive.
The last place was in Mt.Vernon. He was way less expensive but not exactally top quality As I recall that business was just two initials like J.D. or something like that.
As an example the Queen City place quoted a friend 400 to chrome his primary case. He could order from the catalog for about 300.
When I lived there in the 80's I use to love riding Hwy 7 (I think that's it anyway) out of the Tacoma area up to Paradise on Mt Rainier. It's not a long ride but I remember it being one of my favorites. When I worked graveyard I would take that ride before I went home from work. I especially liked it in the spring.
Also liked to ride down to Elma and ride the loop around to Shelton and then run over to Bremerton.
Thinking about it almost makes me want to move back up there.
