Can anyone tell me about US-15 from Fredericksburg, Virginia to Gettysburg Pa.
I'm looking for an alternative route to by-pass the DC traffic on the way to Gettysburg Pa. On I-95, I-495, and I-270 to US-15 I almost always get stuck in traffic whe I drive and don’t want to deal with it on the bike.
Going north, you'd get off I-95 at US-17 and take that to US-15. US-15 varies between 2 and 4 lane through Northern VA with some traffic in the Leesburg area. It is a less stressful ride than the Interstates, but takes a bit longer. Living in Stafford, VA, I usually head towards US-15 when traveling towards Buffalo, NY and do try to avoid Interstate Hwys when on two wheels, especially in NoVA and MD. On the US-17/US-15 route, there are some boring and some scenic stretches. When are you making the trip?

Thanks Ski,
I have used US-17 to go over to Winchester and up I-81 to Scranton Pa the last 2 years but this year I need to stop off in Gettysburg and anything is better then stop and go traffic.
