Default Old School Trip

Some friends and I are wanting to do an old school trip somewhere this summer...you know the kind with no motel/hotels. we were thinking bout just riding and stopping whenever we get tired and sleeping in parks, side of the road or camping. Anybody do a trip like this and if so where/what kinds of places and trouble did you run into?

Thats usually my style... 100 for a night at a motel is not as cool as 100 for the night at a dive bar in a run down town and a sleep sack under the stars. do it at least once man

Expect to be woke up by the cops. Don't stay to close to RR tracks, it will scare the hell out of you in the middle of the night !! Mice will get into the food. Might even carry off a bungee cord. Never did find it. Desert is pretty hot in the day time but gets really cold at night

Last year I made a 7-day trip into the Sequoia's and Kings Canyon. Slept on the ground 6 nights. You can camp free in the National Forests but not in the National Parks.

Small town's west of the mississip will let you sleep in the city park if you ask a cop as will the occasional convenience store. Farmer's and, rancher's don't mind as long as you don't leave a mess.Look for the old road running beside the new one might be yrs. since anyone used it but they are open. The bar on the edge of town usually has a grassy spot and, after getting a beer and, sandwich normally give you the go ahead.Truckstop's will work but not close to a city, watch for a guy parking close to your favorite spot and,ask how long he's gonna stay, then ease in behind him if it's an all night stop.Use your imagination this country is chock full of good people, but don't take advantage I might be behind you and,I really hate hearing about that last biker who screwed up something for the rest of us.
