Default BRP Paving Prjoject

Just a reminder that there is some paving going on from the US 221 exit at Grandfather Mountain, south to the US 221/ Linville Falls exit. It is not closed, but there are some flaggers and delays. I was through there today, not much traffic and not much waiting. There were plenty of signs, no problems getting through, just something to be aware of. A bit of paving delay is OK. I've made I think 18 runs up and down the BRP in the last 11 years. I only made it one time with out some sort of detour. The spring and fall storms create slides and the gumint is real tight with the money for the Park Service when it comes to road repair.
The detour around Boone has been years.

The section that is being repaired has been neglected for so long, it was really getting dangerous. There had been numerous accidents near Linville Falls in the last 3 or 4 years because of a bad dip in the road. Last year, they finally put up new guard rails, this year they are resurfacing. We coulda used all that money they sent to Packystan here at home, but then, we are dealing with the "gumint" you know.
