NY 22 and US 7 make a nice loop. All the way from the Bronx to Canada. Many east west roads will allow one to make the loop size mileage to be set for the time one has.
Do the whole loop once or break it down and do a section at a time.
I'm in Carmel, so if I want a short loop I sometimes take a ride on 301 down to the water in Cold Spring. If you go back the other way on 301 it'll take you to rt. 52. Right on 52 will take you though the stores/shopping in Carmel. That'll take you to Farmers Mills rd. eventually - left on Farmers Mills will lead back to 301. Just takes about an hour for that loop, but you can branch off in other directions too. Most of it is nice winding roads.
they usually have a big car and bike show at bear mountain every wed night from like 5 till dark. i think every thurs night they have a cruise night at danbury harley. thats all i can think of off the top of my head. i know theres more just dont keep track of them all. dunno how much exploring you been doin but, theres a ton of nice areas to ride.
This may be strange getting lower NY state riding advise from Virginia but I retired here from north Jersey. If you really want to learn some great backroads hook up with the Ramapo 500. It's coming up in July and the Ramapo MC come up with outstanding backroads. For many years I saved the route sheets from this event.
Learn some of the best roads in NY,NJ,CTand PA. A good feed and they always overnight someplace with a pool or a lake.
