Me and a couple others are heading to Smokies area at the end of August and I was wondering wheres a good (cheap/reasonable) biker friendly place to stay thats close to The Dragon, Blueridge Parkway, Cherohala skyway, etc... Last year we stayed in Gatlinburg but we want to get closer to the good riding. Any ideas, tips, etc. would be great! Thanks!
I've stayed at the punkin center mc resort 3 times. Family owned, motorcycles only (ridden or towed), clean, cheap, with food and bar on site. It is 8 miles from the dragon and <5 from the foothills parkway.
I have not stayed at all the places down there, but so far the iron horse motorcycle lodge is my favorite. My only complaint is that they have cell phone service and the OL can call me.
Townsend, Tn is really a nice place to stay near good riding and the park. One of the websites I found by searching for motorcycle friendly lodging in Townsend...
I just stayed 3 nights a week or two ago at Hunt's Motorcycle Lodge, just outside Tellico Plains. You can get to all those spots quickly (like 5 minutes to Cherohala, less than a hour to the Dragon area by 360).
