Default Mt. Evans

Heading to Co. in a couple of weeks and wanted to stop at Mt. Evans. Just wanted to know if it's worth going to or just skip it. It sounds stupid but I'm one of those people that like to take a picture at places just to say I was there. Thanks again.

Thumbs up

take the camera and dress warm. It might be summer but it will be much cooler at the top than down at city level. better check to be sure the road is open - this year they had so much snow there was no place to push it. if you are going to journey west across I70 go over Loveland Pass - another nice ride you will want the camera for. ride safe!

I just got back from Mt evans last month and it is worth going. Very scenic and beautiful. We made it ti the top and it was 37 degrees and snowing when we got up there but worth every minute of it!

Definitely go. If you just want to say you were there, you will be able to do so by knowing you rode the highest paved road in all of North America.

I used to have in laws out there, and it's definetly worth a trip to the top. But Brother dress warm! It's cold up there even in the summer.

Thanks everyone for the replies! Looks like I'm going to cross Mt. Evans off the bucket list. Man I was going to head up to Glacier National Park and do the Going to the sun road but the dog gone thing is still under 8 feet of snow on the top end! Oh well maybe next year for that one.

Thanks again everyone.

It's not stupid and is definitely worth it! I went up there on a cloudy Monday morning last summer. Somehow I inched through all of the thunderheads and showers and never even got a drop on me. It was very windy at the top, but what 14K peak isn't windy at the top? A very fun and scenic road the whole way...don't miss it!

I've been up Mt Evans many times, well worth it! Always bring your leather jacket in the mountains and on Mt Evans, bring your camera.

Leave us a trip report, I'm planning a Colorado trip in August or September and need recent recommendations on motels, restaurants, etc.
