Leaving from Milwaukee headed for Gatlinburg TN next Saturday. Looking at mapquest it has a notation about construction on 80/94. Are there any locals on here that can give me a heads up on construction through there? I wasn't planning on going the toll road or the Skyway. I hate tolls! Leaving Saturday morning about 7 and planned to take 94 right through town to 65 in IN. If construction is bad I would take the Skyway. So what is my best option here?
I go to Indy a couple times a summer and I hate paying the tolls myself, but for my money the Skyway is the way to go, all it takes is 1 idiot on the permanent construction on 80/94 to turn it into a parking lot.
Thanks for the link. 'Cept, did you read any of that? It is set up to inform us whats going on then doesn't say anything! What I mean is there is the space where it says impact ontraffic and it only list what they are doing in engineer terms. Doesn't say "one lane closed" or "Pavement grooved". Typical waste from government workers.
Sorry for my rant...no coffee yet. I did mean thanks for the link!

Been over the Skyway a zillion times myself. Drove truck a lifetime ago. My wife might have a problem with the elevated roadway though. Probably gonna find out it seems unless someone pipes up and says 80/94 is good to ride.
yea I saw that too. I know they are doing some work on the 294 but couldnt find anything real definitive. Having lived there and passed through many times as well I am not surprised as I think they want to keep everyone in the dark...
Good day They are "almost" done with the work on 89/94. The majority of the work in Indiana is done. BUT it is not "all" done. You will also be faced with construction projects in several different areas as you are riding on a Saturday. Don't mean to seem to put you off, but it is construction season. I think the best traffic on radio is WGN AM 720. If you can bypass the city completely is your best bet.
