chicago hotels

We are going to stop in Chicago and wondered if anyone knows of any reasonable priced hotels outside of Chicago that are clean and in good neighborhood. Any info would be appreciated.

Just stayed at the Holiday Inn off 94 in Skokie. It was nice, clean and quiet.
