I'm headed to Nashville later this month via the scenic route. I'm looking at running south on 220 then cutting across the Monongahela National Forest on rt 250/92 (Staunton Parkersburg Tpke).
How is this route for riding or are there better roads to take. I'm not familiar with this area.
The only thing I would add is getting into the forest higher north then 250. Looks like 72 at Cabins will give you more mountain time. It's been a couple years, but I remember 220 as a flat country ride.
220 and 92 are both kind of down in the valley rides. A few curves but not a lot of elevation changes. 250 33 39 will all take you up and over the mountains to 219 which is a good ride. If time is an issue tho 220 or 92 are faster traveling than 219.
Not sure how you're getting to 220 from York --- if you're doing something up north first & then going down, or if it's 30 to Bedford. I'm an outside sales rep & used to travel to VA & W.VA, in the car. I thought 68 out of Cumberland MD would be a great ride on the bike. Nice & hilly & scenic, and not much traffic for an interstate. Same with 79 to Charleston, and then down 77. Saw lots of bikes.
28/39/219 little better

Google Cass Scenic and check out other iron horses... And the roads are quite enjoyable. When I need to get away from it all, I go to Cass! Have a great trip!
