If the weather permits when you get out here on the east coast look at takin the blue ridge parkway from NC up to VA. We have rode up there a bunch in April over the years and it is really nice.

I-10 from california to florida and then north up the east coast. you should forget sight-seeing on this trip. you will lose some time some where due to bad weather--or you could have mechanical problems. day after day of 500 miles will wear you down.
