15th attempt to post this. This is only a test!!!!!! Rode Dragon Tail and Cherohala Sunday. Snow on top of Cherohala. Colors were better than I expected. Leadman your route and mine are probably very similar. 411 north to 72 and into the dragon that way is the way I like best. From near Cohutta area.
Keep checking the weather.Looks good the 1st
part of next week, then starts looking cold & wet.
What is the weather like in that area come April? Thinking about an extended weekend around Easter, scooting up there on long day's ride, then ride the area for 3 days, then zoom back home... Also, best routes from Chattanooga area for big loop that includes "the best roads"?

Weather usually pretty good that time of year.Last couple
of years rain not too bad.Pm me with some thoughts on
where you want to ride & I'll see what I can come up with
on some routes.
I let you all talk me into it, I went and rode Cherohala Skyway Monday and The Dragon Tuesday.
I had great weather and a good ride. The natural beauty of the area, this time of year, is hard to beat.
We live in an area where there are a lot of good roads to ride. Just to list a few of my favorites, The highway that runs from Signal Mountain Road to Whitwell around the south end of Signal Mountain is a great road. It's call River Canyon road then turns right toward Whitwell then cross Hwy 28 and continue on to Hwy 108. Another is from Cleveland hwy 64 turn left just past the Lake onto Hwy 30 then turn right on 315, comes out in Tellico. Or hwy 68 from Ducktown to Tellico. Another great road is hwy 209 from Waynesville NC to Hot Springs NC, its like the Dragon but not as compact. The first thing you get after you get a Harley is a box of topo maps.
For a pleasant ride on a summer's day try East Valley Rd at Powell's
Crossroads.Cross Suck Creek Mtn. turn rt. at East Valley Rd. and
follow it to the end.Not a real long ride, but always pleasant.Just
a small country backroad.
I just did this same trip on four wheels in my GTO. Man there are so many cool back roads around that area its insane. Planning on taking the Hog back next time.
