Great story about running out of gas. Had a some what similar experience on a sunday morning in eastern Co a couple years back. I was east bound on 36, getting low on gas,
the gas stations in the small town's I passed thru were closed, as in out of business. Somewhere
a little west of Idalia I was running on fumes, when I saw a sign that said gas. A mile down the road I see a building with 2 pumps out front, with a sigh of relief I pulled in.
Tried to fill up then realized it a farmers co-op station, so I couldn't access the pump, Sh#t so there I sat. After 20 min a pickup comes down the road and I'm praying it pulls in, but the driver looks me over and rolls right on by, again I'm thinking crap! Another 20 min passes and here comes the same truck, this time it pulls in. The farmer asks if I'm stranded, and I say yes sir I am, he then turned the pump on using his own credit card.
That guy really pulled my bacon out of the fry pan that morning so I gave him $50 for
that tank of gas. Thank goodness for people willing to lend a helping hand!!!!
I guess there are still good people left in the world. I think their hiding in small town America though
My buddy has the sportster 48, he went with me to Wyoming in july. We did cheat tho, prior to leaving we switched out his tank for a 5 gallon tank.... He ended up with a longer range than me, almost 300 miles per tank. Not bad for a Bar Hopper......
Ride safe....
