Birthday ride
I live in San Diego, yesterday was my birthday
and I celebrated by going for a nice long ride with my brother and buddy. Left SD around 10:00 a.m. For those familiar, we took the 94E to Old Highway 80, where we found a barren dirt field right by the border. We took a dirt road to get to it, snapped some pics and did a couple dirt peel outs. Then we visited the Desert Tower right above Ocotillo Desert, found some cool painted rocks. Then took the 8E to Ocotillo, then hopped on Imperial Highway, where I got a new top speed. Raced past my bro on his Streetbob, going 110+ (not sure exact speed, his speedo stops at 110 and mine is d/c). Anyways, about 20 miles later after some twisties on S-2, my bike started making a horrible clanking noise between my knees
. I thought I had blown my top end, but after stopping to look, I found my rear gas tank bolt had come loose and my tank was banging the frame. Relieved I tried to start my bike but the battery was now dead. WTF?
I had just replaced a dead battery earlier that week. I managed to connect my brothers battery and then quickly reattach mine and booked it home S-2 to Banner Grade, through Julian and Ramona, then 67 home. Long ride 160+ miles about 7 hours total (ride, eat, gas, rest, and repair time) Made it home safe and bike won't start, but I had an AWESOME day
. I'm hoping it's the Voltage Regulator. Going to run some tests this weekend.
Sorry for the long story and run on sentences, here's some pics...ENJOY!

P.S. Found this sticky note from my wife before I left... It lasted the whole trip
