Not sure how long you will be here, but out of Denver for memorable rides I would point the front wheel towards
- Rocky Mountain National Park
- Mount Evans and/or Pikes Peak
- Loveland Pass, Summit County, Hoosier Pass, South Park, Kenosha Pass back to Denver
- The canyons up to the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, canyons back to Denver
- Deckers to Woodland Park, to the historic mining communities of Victor (especially) and Cripple Creek, then return.
- Much more
Thanks for all that...we are going to be there for 7 days just trying to figure out some major key places to go see. We had a few of those places already in mind ( Pikes peak, & RMNP) We will be lodging in or around the denver area. so day rides would be prefered for the OL.
Leaving from Denver head to Golden, then to Blackhawk, and take the peak to peak highway to Estes Park, then up into Rocky Mtn National Park. I'm Colorado born and raised and that's my favorite ride in the state within easy reach of Denver. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about other rides, places, etc.
* The "San Juan Triangle"... Telluride, Ouray & Silverton
* The Durango & Silverton narrow-gauge railroad
* The "million dollar highway" between Ouray & Silverton
* Hot spring at Glenwood Springs
285 South outta town to Pine Junction. Left to Deckers. Then on down to Woodland Park.
Then pick up HWY 83 out of Colorado Springs to back. Little bit of mountain and plain.
285 South to Fairplay. Right on HWY 9 to Breckinridge.
Enjoy your trip!
