The only bad thing is the 75 miles or so of Interstate, which I always try to avoid.
Thanks,
It's worth 75 miles of I-10 to ride the Coronado Trail.

Here's a link to more info about it: http://www.cyclerides.com/rides/dayr...ronadoride.htm

From Roswell, go through Ruidoso to Las Cruses. Take I-25 north to state 152 west to Silver City. From Silver City get over to Clifton, Az. Fill up with fuel and take 191 north to Eagar. In my opinion, take US 60 over to Show Low. Days Inn in SL is dated but clean and close to food. From Show Low take US 60 through Salt River Canyon to Globe. Then 188 up to Payson and meander over to Camp Verde.

I like US 60 from the Eagar area to Show Low better as it has much less traffic. Pinetop is really slow due to traffic.

Red River to Amarillo is not much of a ride. It is less than six hours.

All of the rides from Ruidoso on to silver city-clifton-show low-globe are great rides.

Once you leave Red River just bite your teeth and bring it home.

I think if Robertwy can survive Arlington, TX without getting run over or killing someone else he can negotiate Sedona just fine.

I really like the western trip and may strike out in that direction on my RKC around that same time as well.

I did some riding around Ruidoso last fall. A report is on my website.
Utah all the way. Besides, you could use a break from all that traffic in the Metroplex.

My wife and I road in Utah this year and it was great. Hwy 12 from 89 to 24 is the best road I have ever been on and I ride a lot (15,000-20,000 year) Hwy 12 has just about every type of scenery there is on one road. We went to the Grand Canyon first then rode up to 12 via 89 would recommend the Grand Canyon if you have never been there! If not this trip plan to ride 12 some other time you will not regret it.

Hopefully! The only riding I do in the Metroplex, however, is the part I have to do to get out of it. (Of course Arlington is right in the middle of it, so it takes a while to escape.)

These photos aren't helping my mental state. I can't wait for spring. Even here in Arlington, TX it's 24 degrees this morning. I guess I won't get to ride any today even though I don't have to work today.

I didn't know you could get to Clifton/191 from the east (NM). I am usually coming from the opposite direction (Phoenix).

You could not have picked a better Utah ride. Hwy's 89 and 12 are spectacular, and May will be a perfect time to do that ride, however going up over Boulder Mountain near Torrey can get really cold. I have been snowed on in early June. Make sure to take a dip in Lake Powell, a greater place on Earth has never been discovered.
