Don't know about old history?
I was once entering SSM, Canada side. Asked (first time ever that ??) if I was ever fingerprinted. Said yes (Spupick) , another round in the station for Interpol check-up. Took an hour but they had a car to tear apart. I gather High alert that day.

Anybody ever watch the show Border Patrol? It's on Discovery I think and it shows the Canadian customs agents in Vancouver at the airport, marine port, and road crossing.
They always run back up checks and find out when people have had arrests. They frequently turn away people who have a DUI on their record.
Seriously though? A DUI from 20 years ago makes you a huge threat to the Canadian population? We'll let practically anybody from a foreign country move here and abuse our healthcare system but god forbid an American with a DUI from eons ago should be let in. Canada needs to get that stick out of their ***.
