We had a good trip all in all. I had made the first 150 miles and was right back at the house, guess what my breather fell off, so I had to go back to the house and put together another breather, got it fixed (another story) and was back on my way. We had left at 9:00 a.m. and I finally arrived in camp at 5:30 p.m., so it only took me 8 1/2 hours to finish a 2 hour normal ride and plus add injury to insult I only got rained on twice after fixing the breather. They had camp ready and was cooking when I arrived, I was starved. We left the next morning and headed out, the ride was wonderful, started on Cherohala Skyway, went on to Deals Gap after the Cherohala, then on hwy 28 to Bryson City, got on 74 to Robinsville, we arrived there about 2:00, got gas and headed out, we hear thunder and then we hit the rain. It rained the whole 75 miles back to camp at Tellico Plains, we were cold and wet, yeah no rain suits. We left Sunday and I went back by myself on hwy. 68 to Copperhill TN, then on hwy. 64 to the Ocoee National forest, the river that runs through there was the site for the 96 Olympic Kayak competition. Got home and really enjoyed the ride back. At least I got to ride a little over 600 miles and as I thought about it, even a bad day on a Harley is still a good day.
John, very cool pictures.
We will be their at the end of this month for the rally in Chattanooga.
I think the wife and I will run up to the Dragon on Friday or Saturday and ride it again[8D]
The wife and I just returned from there... AWESOME place!!!! I've been there 6 or 8 times and it just keeps gettting better and better... but this time, we were on the BIKE!!! Can't wait to go back!
That's great!!! That ride is so famous around here.. "The Dragon".. Yet I haven't done it yet.
I wonder if the Black Knight is still open in Robinsville. If you blink twice you'll miss that town intirely. hehe
I did the plumbing in that Ingle's store a long time ago with my Dad (summer job).
But anyway... That is some beautiful country up there. And some of the best trout fishing on this side of the continent.
