Truley a treasure. You will never forget the trip. Use common sense with dealing with bison. Dont get in a place you cant escape from.
Take lots of pictures.
Cheif joeseph and Beartooth are very cool.

I would eat a good breakfast and carry food for lunch. One can burn a lot of time getting prepared food anywhere in the park. So much to see and so little time.

We stayed in the park two nights and the second morning came out and it was 28* at 7:00am. We had to get a hot washcloth to take the ice off the windshields and seats.

Also, I saw people chasing down bison for pics. We were pulled over by a pond and one came right in front, between our bikes. We just sat and let them wander by (but I was thinking of strategies to jump off the bike, run, etc).

The scarier thing was at night, coming back from dinner at the Old Faithful Inn, there was a mini-van stopped in the road (a dark and desolate portion of the park on our way back to the motel in the park) and there was a coyote staring us down on the side of the road. I don't know if it was rabid or why the mini-van was stopped (other than to gawk) but when he finally jogged across the road, I hit the throttle.

We did most of the park in about a day and a half. We planned the whole loop (about 180 miles at 40mph) with stops and as long as you get out early, find quick places to eat lunch (not the big restaurants) and keep an eye on the time, it is doable.

Rangers won't travel the park at night...

I'd never roam through after dark on a bike..it is DARK and there is a lot of animal movement..spotty cell service and it would take a long time for help to arrive.

The day we were there last year a man was killed by a bison trying to get a photo...

Another animal to be aware of - Ravens. They are very smart and can defeat zippers on motorcycle luggage. Cheryl and I came back to our bike (parked in the Old Faithful parking area) to find the tour pack topper open and our stuff strewn about the parking lot. We thought someone had gone through our luggage. But, a woman came running up and told us that she had witnessed ravens opening our gear, presumably looking for food. She said she shooed them off a couple of times before we we came back. Strange stuff.
