The first 50 miles from Nashville south are the best, in my opinion. You got the bridge over Hwy 96, which is worth a stop to look at when you get to it, and there are a few curves on the northern end as well. Have a great trip!
I have done the ride two times (from Dayton, OH) north to south, VERY NICE RELAXING RIDE. But don't get in a hurry. Some of the others riding with me one time got bored and was ready to get off after a few hours, but I enjoyed it. No billboards, no trucks, no stop lights, just peaceful riding with great scenery. The second trip I went alone.
At the north end eat at Loveless Cafe,(this is right at the north end within a half mile) its an old cafe and motel from the 40's good food, nice stop. The motel is closed and now has gift shops or something.
I stayed at Tupelo the first night and Natchez the second night. I ate at a small joint on top of the hill above the casino called mama Tamales, I think that was the name. The HD dealer in Jackson said they ride down on day rides and eat there. Good Food.

Fat Mama's Tamales, not the best but very good and a great hangout. It used to be in an old log cabin, now they've moved down the street.
Get off at Port Gibson, MS for a short beautiful side trip to Grand Gulf, near the place that Gen. Grant crossed the Mississippi River to attack Vicksburg. The Grand Gulf State Park has a great little museum with artifacts from The War For Southern Independence, prehistoric mammoth and saber-tooth tiger bones, etc. As a matter of fact, you can get off at MS Hwy 27, go north just a bit, and take Old Port Gibson road on into Grand Gulf. It's a great, smooth, secluded, twisty road that parallels the trace, and you won't miss any Natchez Trace highlights, except a bathroom stop at Rocky Springs park. You'll think you're still on the trace, it's beautiful!
