Default Crashes

There have been a lot of motorcycle accidents in the north Iowa area over the last few weeks including friends of ours, and there was 1 fatality.

I was hoping to do a little more riding this summer, we just got a new Street Glide, we usually only do a couple of day trips maybe 300 miles or so, and now I am having a hard time getting the wife back on the bike.

Hopefully I don't have to go alone.

sorry about your freinds. i guess you just have to reassure her that just because it happen to someone else does not mean it will happen to yall. get her a shiney new helmet to wear and maybe a armoured jacket.

lots of corn fields in iowa, and the deer and other wild animals do love to eat it. plus, once the corn gets tall it is hard to see at intersections/cross roads. if you have small children at home, the mother instinct is going to kick in for the wife-can't risk leaving the kids without parents. you may be riding by your self till the kids get older.

try riding before the corn gets tall or after the harvest-that might put the wife at ease. or stay mainly on the interstates and avoid all the cross traffic.

Some friends are doing a short ride Saturday if it doesn't rain again. It seems like she might be o.k. with it, we'll see, not gonna force it on her though.
Part of it could be the bigger bike. Maybe she doesnt think I can handle it with a passenger?
We had a wide glide before and everything was all good, this street glide seems lots easier to handle than the wide glide was.

We went from a Sportster to an Ultra Classic this year and my wife was a little worried at first about the "big change" but I finally convinced her that, in my opinion, the Ultra is actaully easier to ride at speed than the Sporty. Now she can't wait to ride and is perfectly at ease. Give your wife a little time and I bet she will be fine.

Well she finally got on and went for a short ride yesterday afternoon and everything should be fine now.
She found out that it is a much better ride than the ones we had before.
We will get out and put some miles on this week end too.

Hey congratulations on getting her back on the bike. I had a hard time getting my girlfriend on it the first time but now I can't get her back off.

I've never had a problem getting my wife on the bike but then, we don't know anyone personally who's crashed. That might make a difference to her, I don't know. At least yours is feeling safe enough to ride again.
