Default Nashville

Planning a trip for four couples, from Rhode Island out to Nashville for July or August 2014. Headed up to Branson, MO after that for a few days. Looking for any information on motels/hotels. We want to be downtown or at least someplace we can get to the local music without taking the bikes.

Also any suggestions on great local clubs?

Thanks

Nashville in July or August? Prepare to sweat. A lot! The Opryland is touristy but fun (and expensive).

Double Tree, Holiday Inn at Vanderbilt (across from Centennial Park), Best Western Music Row, all have pools cause your gonna want one in July/August. Opryland is really expensive and too far from Downtown.

Bluebird Cafe, Ryman, Tootsies...tons of clubs EVERYWHERE Downtown. Get the free weekly paper THE SCENE the week your here, has all the club/bar happenings and listen to Lightning 100 (one of the best progressive radio stations in the country) for more......

Nashville is a good time and I'm not a big fan of the country music scene but there is more to it than that. I'll go back some day.
We had a riot at BB Kings joint.
Stayed at the Holiday Inn and caught a cab.
Enjoy.

Nashville is a great place, I absolutely love it, and have been twice this year. If you like country music, go see the grand ol opry. It was great. The backstage tour sucked, but you do get to see all the dressing rooms, just no stars. Not worth the money or the time it took to take the tour. If your out that way, might wanna check out the mall, or maybe that's just the woman in me telling you the ladies will have a blast at this huge mall. But if it were me, I definitely would stay downtown and of course those hotels aren't cheap.

If you love live music, Broadway Street is the place to be. Might I also recommend the Honky Tonk Central, at the corner of Broadway and 4th. Can't remember what time we got downtown, but on a Wednesday at what seemed like 11 am there was live music. Very cool bar, laid back atmosphere and the drinks were strong. Ordered a crown and water and was shocked, It tasted like a double! That is rare this day and time. As for the Bluebird, it is hard to get into and really just wasn't our scene. It's gotten real popular because of the tv show also. Its kinda a place that you would dress up to go to and not any hell raising going on in there. As for eating places, check out Loveless Cafe out by the Natchez Trace. Typical breakfast food, but it is a very very neat little joint.

Thanks for the input. We may leave RI the last week of August to avoid the humidity, but you have to remember it begins to get cooler up here in September.

We have been three times and we always stay in the Hilton. It is not as expensive as it sounds!! Country Music Hall of Fame is right in front and the Honky Tonks are right around the corner. Underground parking garage is perfect for the bikes and the staff has always been friendly to bikers. They also have a restaurant and bar in the lobby.

There are three big venues all walking distance, so make reservations early. If you wind up there the same weekend as a big concert, rooms will be scarce and expensive. Nashville is worth it, having a bad time is near impossible.

If you like blues music check out the blues bar on Printers Alley. Great music always.

I love Nashville. We always stay within walking distance of Broadway and 2nd ave. Courtyard by Marriott is our favorite. Great country music at most of the bars on Broadway. We always hit Printers alley late on our way back to the hotel. Demo's is our favorite place to eat and is within walking distance of downtown. Enjoy Tennessee it has a great deal to offer.

The best part of that ride is going to be around Branson in north Arkansas and southern Missouri. I'll be interested to see your route from Nashville to Branson.
