Favorite Mom & Pop roadside restaurants
The Frosted Mug - Springfiled, MO. Unpretentious atmosphere. SUPERB food and good brew selection.
Jimbo's - Laurelville, OH. Right outside Hocking Hills (excellent riding) and a definite bike magnet. Clean inside. Excellent sandwiches and friendly folks.
The Log Cabin - Wellsboro, PA. Probably Rt 6's best kept dining secret. Looks like nothing on the outside. The inside is almost beyond belief with a complete lodge feeling, fireplace, full-size animal mounts, rustic wood, etc. The food is incomparable. Great brews and a nice wine list. Definitely biker appropriate.
Javelina Cantina - Sedona, AZ. Not dedicated to bikers, but an excellent stop for lunch or dinner. Great food. More margarita recipes than anyplace I've seen. Burritos, chimis, rellenos, and fajitas so good you can't stop eating.
Devils Backbone Brewpub - Roseland, VA. Outside Charlottesville. Well known craft brewery with LOTS of great selections. Indoor/outdoor seating. Some of the best pub food ever. Their beer batter fish & chips are a homerun. Definite bike magnet.
Scioto Ribber - Portsmouth, OH. Locally known joint which grills all their steaks and spare ribs over open pit hardwood fires. Their big ribeye is perfect for guys riding big baggers. Full bar and a lot of choices. You'll walk out with a full belly.
The Forks - Elkins, WV. Located on a side road outside of town. Rural setting overlooking a pretty creek. Inside has a comforting vintage feel. Outstanding entrees in a place that feels like a secret hideaway.
Thurman Grill - Columbus, OH. Don't go unless you're serious about gigantic gourmet burgers in a very small and very famous dive. You'll wait in line usually. Inside is gritty and loaded with memorabilia. A few old bullet holes in there. Some of their burgers stand about 6+ inches tall (thick) and will take a month off your life.
The Rickhouse - Bardstown, KY. Great restaurant along the Bourbon Trail.
ANYPLACE in St Michaels, MD on Chesapeake Bay. The whole small town is loaded with outrageously good local food. Obviously seafood rules the roost here, but you can get steaks so good you'll be amazed. It's cool to eat dockside at several places. And of course all seafood requires beer!
And then there's Alaska......
