Default enough luggage space?

Leaving May 19 to head from northwest Indiana down to Nashville and catch the Natchez Trace Parkway and then from there? I have an 03 RK classic. With the bags and a t bag that is 18"x9"x9"..is this enough luggage space? Probably 7 days.

More than enough.

Lay everything out on the floor somewhere for a couple of weeks.
As you walk by look at it and start reducing the pile.

By the time of the trip you will still be taking too much but not as much as you would have.

First, make yourself a list and pack every thing that you MUST HAVE and CANNOT get on the road (prescription medication, extra eyeglasses, wallet, driver's license, registration, proof of insurance, credit cards, cash, spare bike keys, etc.).

Leathers, rain gear and clothes for two-up riding takes a lot of storage capacity, especially if the weather is nice and you have to bag everything.

I try to have two extra pairs of jeans, one L/S shirt, several T-shirts, socks, briefs.

Nothing wrong with doing laundry every third day or so.

Have a good, safe trip.

Thanks guys..I will be riding solo and one other guy going with on his RK also solo...

Do you think buying the bag liners to remove from the bags (classic leather bags, non locking) is worth buying to grab those two bags and the small bags for hotel each night?

thanks again

My bike has hard bags and the "liners" that came with the bike are, IMHO, too stiff and bulky...took up too much valuable space.

So I purchased a couple small light-weight gym bags and use those...works for me.

Not sure if you are staying in motels or camping. But you might consider mailing cloths to the halfway point. Then box up your dirty stuff shipping back home.

But really how much stuff do you really need to take with you. One extra pair of jeans and few tees. And always remember that they sell jeans and just about everywhere in the world. There is also a good chance you will be buying tees anyway. Plus it shouldnt be hard to find a laundry mat.

Doing laundry on the road sucks. Dryers in hotels are the worst, you will be spending several hours waiting for your stuff to dry. We only do it when we absolutely must, if I can pack enough clean underwear, we do.

Seven days, which to me is six mornings that you need clean clothes. underwear, socks and t-shirt, need clean everyday. Two pairs of jeans max, and you are always wearing one of them. Long sleeve shirt for cold days, leather, rain gear, toiletries and a camera. You got that with the noted luggage

Riding solo on a RK with a T-bag is more than enough room. I have the hard bag liners and I think they work great, grab and go. If your only going to be on the road for 7 days, one laundry stop should be good. If this is your first long road trip you will take stuff that you THINK you need but wont use. Must = Basic tools, credit card, med's(if needed), and toiletries. Just have fun is the main thing.

One saddlebag for Rain Gear, chaps, tool role, old bath towel (for wiping down the bike from the morning dew or whatever) and bungee cords (I prefer to use Velcro straps as they don’t scratch paint and role up into small roles, can be used to secure leather jacket to T-Bag).
Other saddlebag for extra shoes, leather jacket, phone chargers and cables, or other bulky items.
T-Bag for clothes, toiletries, camera, etc. ( I put EVERYTHING in a plastic garbage bag that goes in the T-Bag, take extra, also can Put leather jacket in one and strap to T-Bag if needed)
Role shirts and t-shirts and secure with rubber bands. Underwear and socks for 7 days, 2 pair of jeans.
The pockets on the t-bag. Sunscreen, eye drops, aspirin or Advil, Band-Aids, Tissues, etc. ( Also pack them in plastic bags) I don’t ride with my wallet in my pocket, could fall out, makes my leg / butt go to sleep, etc. Put it in one of the T-Bag pockets.
If your one of those that buys T-Shirts then don’t take more than 2 with you. Same goes for any clothing, (take Old underwear and socks, throw them away and buy new ones when you need.)
