Default Mtn Trip & MC2 update

Left Thursday May 29 for Waynesville NC with four buddies. We stayed at a friends lodge which was great. The road to the lodge was slate rock, steep and narrow @ around 40 degrees incline.

I had just put the Michelin Commander 2 tires on the bike and must admit that as of now I am convinced they are superior to the dunlops that I was getting 14k out of. They handled very well in the rain as we where running hard on the four lanes with sheets of rain falling hard.

We rode all the "well known" routes ie..Dragon, Cherohola, hell bender, moonshine 28, rattler and diamondback. We went offroad several times into natural parks and that was very interesting.

I think that on this trip I learned you can have as much fun running the major roads, 441, 321, foothills parkway, 76, Great Smoky mtn expressway @ 55-65 mph as you can running the slower tighter twisty roads that we always seem to take in.

We rode 200+ miles everyday and I ended up with 1822 miles in 7 days.

Saw my first elk this trip, what a massive animal they are, ten minutes later I saw my second one. Little scary when you see one standing on the side of the Blue Ridge Parkway twenty feet away. Makes you think about what might be around the next corner.

Glad I was able to ride, drink and play poker with my pals. I really enjoyed taking their money at poker. Really appreciative that my buddy has invited me to come hang out anytime in his magnificient mtn lodge.

Couple more things about my trip. Three of my buddies had purchased new 2 bikes. One was a 2014 Indian, beautiful bike, red with the tan trim and all the fringe. It was smooth and had good power. All the ladies loved it wherever we stopped.

The second bike was a 2013 Road King with the leather bags instead of the hardbags. My buddy looked for two years for that configuration before he located it during Myrtle Beach Bike Week.

The third New bike was the 2014 Wethead Limited. It too was a beautiful bike, smooth with plenty of power. It had 300 miles when he showed up at the lodge. Unfortunately he dropped it on the steep incline while trying to make the sharp right hander into the garage. Nothing major hurt but one nice scratch on the bag.

The thing I noticed the most about the limited which had the daymakers on it. There seems to be a high regard for the Daymaker. My observation is that when I looked in the rearview mirrors it was dissappointing to see that the Road King and the Indian bike lights were more visible to me. It appears that only the top half of the daymaker was illuminated so either the light isn't "all that" or there was something going on with the positioning. When he turned his high beam on it was really bright and very noticeable.

And the limited never puked and we got it very hot in Cades Cove.
