I'm planning a trip out that way in late July or August and would like to visit the park. I have heard the roads there are gravel, but can't seem to confirm it. Are there any problems with visiting on a bagger?

Hello there. I have been to that park a few years ago and I remember the roads as being paved.

The main, loop road is pretty amazing, be ready for one heck of a long, winding, some places narrow roadway and some pretty impressive scenery.

Only problem I had was the climb on the ladders down to the cliff palace! Im from sea level and its a high up type of place...I got out of breath.

The main road is all paved. You'll have no problem riding your bagger through the park.

Geneseegap is correct. Absolutely no problem except tromping up and down steep trails in
the hot sun at altitude. I was there two years ago and really got winded..

When you're there, take in Royal Gorge and Four-Corners.

Was just there 2 weeks ago....all roads are paved, in fact they were repaving the parking lots.....you can definately do the 4 corners, but the great Gorge is a heck of a ride, like the other side of the state......stay in Durango, do the million dollar highway route550 pretty cool.

This is the route we just finished 7 bikes 3000 miles.....

Sunscreen! It is going to be hot, direct sun at elevation, and drink a lot of water.
Roads are good - fun drive up there. The visit is worth it ......

If you are a flatlander be prepared for a steep climb up to the top of the mesa. Twisty road with no guard rails. Ride up 550 to Ouray, you wont be disappointed.

Not entirely true, there are guard rails...except when the slope is not steep. Not bad at all....and lots of photo ops on the way to the cliffs dwellings.
