Quickly running out of days before school kicks back in, hit the road today with a couple of my riding buds. A bit of a late start but we were rolling by about 10:30. Interesting thing about the Ozarks is the truth in the adage, You can't get there from here. Take a look at hwy 16 west out of Clinton. Zigs and zags.
Weather was excellent enjoying some of that low humidity. Thought about the thread ragging how hot it is here..... sometimes is. I love the winter with no leaves. Some of our views would have been awesome without the obstructions provided by. Still some great valley views. We made about 50 miles winding mt roads and stopped for a break. Picked up the pace on scenic 7, passed a line of bikes heading the other way and pulling in to Pedestal Rocks, great place to visit but takes a walk.
Jasper for lunch at the Ozark Cafe. See the pic out front. We hit the lunch crowd late. 20 or so bikes on the square but they cleared out while we were chowing. From there to Ponca was awesome. Nice views and great twisty road. Some memories of an old riding bud from a trip 20 something years ago
Quick pass though the elk center then out into Boxley Valley. Cruised all the way to the other end, quick stop and doubled back. In that time, several elk cows and younguns had come out. My back seat snapped several pics as we headed back out. Always wish for just a little more time and a few more roads. My passenger did great. Kind of worry about him nodding off, but he flapped his arms almost all the way home and was certain to wave at most.
