You spent how much to get a cvo and now you have a problem with getting it painted by the one that did the paint In the first place. Sorry I don't get it? Its going to keep the value if you spend the $ and have it done right. Just saying

I have the 2014 CVO Road King in Tribal Orange and had speaker lids painted, they are a shade darker then the color on the bike. I wish I would have become a member and read the post about painters before I had it done locally. I was told by the painter that working with candy colors isn't easy to match. Thanks for all the information that has been posted, I will have my lids redone next winter by one of the painters listed here.
I was a bit pissed at Harley because they said they would not sell me the paint (touch up only) nor will they paint the Harley speaker lids even after I offered to send them my OEM lids along with my VIN number. Harley will paint a tour pack to match my color with tribal design upon ordering, but not the lids. OldEnuf2nobtr is right, Harley will not release the paint code to anyone, no matter what.
I do like the front fender CVOnewguy it shows off the front end.
I put Polk Audio MM6501's in my lowers and J&M Rokker 5x7's in the lids. Not happy with the Rokkers may go with Polk Audio MM571's 5X7. Running 2 Cerwin Vega Amps, one B2 (lower speakers) and one B4 (speaker lids). For a volume control I picked up a Cycle Sounds volume control unit, had Cycle Sounds send it with the lead wire extended so I could run it through the 17 inch apes I put on. All wires/amps are located in the saddlebag. When it's finished I will post pictures.
Please post pics when you get a chance? You went with factory HD lids? I'm torn between the HD Lids and the Dirtybird Concept lids. I like how the Dirtybird lids take a 6.5" and point the speaker towards the rider more... How do you like the bike with lowers? don't know if I'm ready to put lowers on it yet? did you have them painted to match or put black ones on?
I kept the lowers black, they go with the black that is on the lower part of the tank. Besides I am going with a contrast cut on floor boards, shift and brake lever. As far as the lids go, I like the look of the Harley lids and the speakers I put in sound great. Unfortunately I am in no shape to ride to see how it sounds going down the road I had back surgery, rods and pins put in and the doctor hasn't given me the all clear to ride. So, I thought this would be a great time to get everything done.

I had new lids done by Gunslingers out in Colorado. I have a '10 CVOSG in Tequlia Sunrise (one year one model, before they changed the color and used it on other bikes). It wasn't cheap but it was perfect.
Good luck. Finding someone to match the CVO paint isn't easy.

Bike looks great!! What are you using to control volume, track, source, etc? I assume you're just running ipod?
I am running a Sony MP3. I put in a Cycle Sounds volume control unit but had problems with it. I purchased a JL Audio CL-RLC 2 channel full range remote volume control. What a big difference the JL Audio made and it works great. I had to locate the volume **** on the flat plate next to the spark plug wire zip tie on the frame. It works out just fine, I can reach it without any problem. I have seen the control **** put next to the toggle switch located on the headlight housing. Check out this site it will give you all the ideas you need.
if you go to a reputable auto painter, they have color matching guns (i think thats what he called it) that he puts up against your stock color, scans it and then the laptop program gives him the color codes, mixture quantities, sequence and even metallic flake content by weight in PPG or similiar auto paints
I was told what you said by the dealership. My painter told me that everything scanned just fine but didn't come out so when the lids were painted. So, I decided that I needed to find someone that had their bike painted by someone who had unlocked the secret combination on this Tribal Orange paint.
After checking around looks like that painter is Aggresive Designs, that's the company that painted CVOnewGuy's bike.
I will have some other parts I want to put on and my lids repainted by Aggresive Designs next winter.
