That's what I'm hoping with the helmet as a master volume. That's how it works with the freewire.

So which Bluetooth compatible headset would you suggest to finish this system off?

Wife wears a 3/4 helmet and I wear a half helmet (when I wear one)

I use Sena 20S with my full face. For the half helmet they make a SMH10 I believe is what it is called

If you read through the install directions of the kit, it's pretty funny that when you read down you will get to a section that reads " For All" to route the USB cable to right side cover.... hahaha earlier they tell you to discard that harness
I'm holding the module and the additional harness in my grubby paws.

The module comes with a wiring harness that has one gray 16 port connector, one gray 12 port connector, and a USB port.

The additional harness has two black 12 port connectors (one male, one female), one gray 16 port connector, one gray 12 port connector, and also has a USB port.

So yes, if you have a CB you need the extra connections. It's obvious you unplug the CB connectors on the bike, plug each side into one of these and your done with that.

You plug the 16 port gray connector into the WHIM module.

Would someone please tell me where the heck the 12 port one goes?

The manual says:
All: [280A] Accessory Connector, Gray 12-way

and
Connect gray 12-way connector (2) to vehicle [280A].

and even the image just says:
[280B-1] - to vehicle [280A]

I may very well figure it out when I get into the cowling but could someone with the service manual or a picture of the inside of their cowling please tell me where the heck 280A is?

One thing I'm finding amusing is the only reason you have to take the tank off and undo the wiring trough is to run the USB update cable. If they just made it come out the same place the nav update port comes out you wouldn't have to do that.

I've ended up with a few helmets and headsets over the years.

I've got an SPH10H-FM for my half helmet. Works great.

Wife's got an SMH-10 for her 3/4 helmet. Works just as good.

I've got a 20S for my 3/4 helmet with a Harley helmet clamp, Part Number: 20S-A0203 (clamp) If the 20S dies you can plug into the bike and not need power to keep going.

Do you think the sound quality is a lot less with the SPH-10 HD headset?

FWIW, I had a Sena headset already mounted on a helmet, I think it’s the SMG-10 or -20 or something - since it was already mounted I paired it up with my ‘18 and it hooked right up, works fine for both phone, voice control, and music. I haven’t tried to pair it up with any other BT units for bike-to-bike comm since I usually ride solo, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I might get bored and see about installing the one that came with the bike and see if it does anything the Sena doesn’t...
