Default Accidental downshift w. tire chirp - potential damage?

Hi everyone,

I was accelerating up my FXDLS last weekend and accidentially downshifted back from 2nd into 1st instead of 3rd – moment of absence. Tyre locked up and chirped for about 1 second before I pulled the clutch. Nothing happend, bike stayed stable, but I'm sure I went past the 5000 rpm limit going back into 1st. Bike rides just fine, like always so far, haven't noticed any difference. Should I get it checked for damage though? Has anyone had this happend? Any damaged following up?

Thanks!

Cheers, Ranger. Words of truth – this moment is burnt into my memory, glad it wasn't from a higher gear up ...

It can take that without damage. Just don’t make it a habit.

No damage, but do that in a curve and you may have an oh $hit moment.

Actually doing this from a higher gear would’ve been better. 2nd to 1st was the worst you could do.

... .........Whatever you do, don't tell the dealer. Sure they would void the warranty.

You mean in terms of engine harm because of the gear ratio? Or because you’re more likely to go down due to bike stability?

It's a good way to shift a crank. But, if you had done it you'd know it.
