Question 110 Engine work

My 14 CVO limited I purchased in Feb of this year, 500 miles ago. Now has 32,900 miles and I swear it was lifters that started failing. HD dealer says piston slap. They are rebuilding the top end (including bore) and replacing what shows wear in the lower. I just have to pay the difference from HD parts to S+S. if they change the lifters, push rods, and cam bearings. Is there anything I should have them do other than those parts changed to S+S?

I purchased knowing those parts would be an issue but did not expect it to start so damn soon. I had planned on purchasing the parts to have on hand for when they did crap the bed. At least it happened early in the season and I should have a solid engine in my motor.

Do some research on lifter failure on the 110". I started having lifter tick at startup at the end of last season. Even the S&S will fail over time if you keep the stock valve springs installed. the springs are too heavy.

You could turn lemons into lemonade and have the heads ported and polished, and go with a performance cam...

I had the lifters replaced in my '13 110 last year at 33,000 miles just as a preventative measure.
My engine, from DAY ONE had a lifter "rattle" @ 2900 RPM's (sometimes) under light-to-medium acceleration but it sounded fine from medium-to heavy acceleration.
I wasn't able to put a lot of miles on my bike after getting the lifters replaced but I didn't hear that noise in the few miles that I put on the bike.
The service manager told me that he had heard that same noise in other engines but it was nothing to worry about and that my bikes was still under the ESP.
I paid for the work myself as I didn't not want to risk an engine failure even if was under warranty and for me it was also peace of mind.

the stock valve springs are too strong, which is part of what causes the lifters to fail. Also the the aggressive ramps on the stock SE255 cam. Consider having you heads done and add a little compression and pick an appropriate cam to go with it.

Remember, a proper dyno-tune is required (not some downloaded map)
