Default CAM Upgrade

All,

Looking for some information. I am considering upgrading to the HD Torque CAMs on my 2017 SG CVO. I know there might be better options out there but I have three years left on warranty and want to keep them. So my question is does anyone know how much torque improvement I can expect from these cams vs the stock CAMs in the '17 SG CVO? I certainly can find how much improvement over a stock 114CI bike with stock CAMs but cant find anything versus a stock CVO..

Thanks!

What cam are you talking about? They all have numbers. Also, are you just doing cam or will the dealer install a tuning device and if so which one? Also lots of talk of HD not honoring warranty and ESP disallowing claims for any modifications done. You should consider getting in writing that these changes won't impact warranty. The dealers' "word" is worth nothing. Search this forum and the CVO specific one (will have more detail and experience with cam changes) about people being denied warranty and/or ESP claims.

I have an SE Street Tuner and slip ons. I do plan to get in writing that it won’t impact the warranty or ESP. If there is data out the fit the torque change when the cam is upgraded with an HD Torque cam va stock 114” CVO motor I have been unable to find it.

Red Shift .468's will push the torque way up.

The Screaming Eagle Torque cam is essentially the same as what comes stock in the 117 CVO's, that is why HD does not have it listed for the 117, but does for the 107 and 114. It would be a waste of time/money and you would not get any torque improvement.

no1martian - I had a ‘17 CVO Limited Stage 2 TQ cam from HD. I felt it made good low end tourqe for a compliant cam. I think mine came in at about 102hp and 107tq with stock head pipe, SE slip ons, and the HD SEPST stage 2 download. Then I the added the S&S full compliant exhaust and HD auto tuner,. Jumped up to about 107hp and 114tq. The more I rode the better the bike performed. And it was 100% compliant and did not void the HD warranty or the ESP.
Good Luck in your decision - I felt it was money well spent.
