thanks brother
would the screamin eagle tuner help with the bottom end? I want to retain my factory warranty. I bought the 4 year ESP with the bike. Appreciate the help!
No sir I don’t believe it will, it’s not necessarily the tune that will affect the bottom end on the M8, it’s the big open baffle design in the muffler. This is exactly why fuel moto created their insert that works in many mufflers including rinehart. I have ran many sets of slip ons on a stock M8 and while you do get some sound with the big open baffles, you will sacrifice a little on bottom. After chasing sound through all those mufflers and money I finally realized that the cam is where the sound is at in the M8. Since you want to keep your warranty you don’t really have an option for an HD cam. The stock cam in your cvo is so close to the HD 447 torque cam that it is not even offered for the 117 M8. And going back to the street tuner, the cvo comes with high flow ac and higher flowing mufflers so it essentially has the tune from the factory that the street tuner would give you.
The 4.5” Rineharts are the only ones with the black chrome finish and you will lose low end torque with them. They are also very loud and their other baffles do not quieter them down a lot. I installed a fuel moto baffle in mine to regain low end torque. If you don’t want to put on tuner, I would go with Fullsac baffles.
I’m gonna go with the 4.5 DBX’s and just get the inserts from fuel Moto. They match my bike perfectly! Thanks for all the great suggestions I really do appreciate it.
Gman

His cvo essentially has a se stage 1 tune from the factory, the map numbers are different but very little difference. I confirmed this through mother Harley when my cvo 117 was stock. He could run the DBX’s without a tuner no problem.
Fullsac is the best bang for the buck. No loss on stock motor. Capable and work well on big high power motors also. They preform better than the 4.5 DBX on stock motors and on built motors

You are correct that the sound change will come from the cam.
But HD does offer the 447 cam for the 117.
I put it in my '18 when I changed the oil pump since it was only a couple of hundred dollars since I was already in there.
Def made a difference in the exhaust sound.

If you read the small print in the p+a catalog it specifically says HD 447 tq cam not available for 2018+ 117. Will it work, sure, would you be wasting money, yes. The cam spec on the 447 is almost identical to the stock 117 cam.
I have the DBXs. Didnt really notice a loss of torque. Love the sound. Love the looks. Sound wise they are acceptable to the neighbors. Just have to take it real easy.
