Evening/Morning, depending on where you are in the world.
I’m considering the proposition of buying my first CVO. Fallen in love with the Blue Steel.
That being said, I’m sceptical of what the motor company will bring out next year.
I know that nobody on here will have a solid answer to my questions but I’m thinking perhaps you veteran CVO riders might have noticed a trend over the years.
I guess my questions are -
What’s the likely hood of a bigger engine next year to celebrate 120 years?
Is it worth holding off given we’re already in August or should I go with my heart and get the blue steel?
Just looking for thoughts on this really to sway me either way!
side note - I realise that it’s about a lot more than just an engine but when I’m spending 40k+ I like to think I’m getting the newest/best
To me cvo’s have always been about the paint and finish. Unless moco changes the engine design(highly unlikely next year), you buy the bike you like and worry about the engine mods later.
Harley's pretty good about keeping this stuff secret. For hypothetical, if HD were to announce the 131" will be standard on the 2023 CVO Street Glide, it would impact sales of their 2022 CVO Street Glides, so they keep it quiet.
But I'm with you: I'd love to find out what upgrades are coming in '23. If you're in love with that blue steel, pull the trigger and don't look back. If something truly game-changing comes out in '23 that you just gotta have, you can trade it in and eat the loss. Not the preferred course of action, but it's an option, if you're worried about falling out of love with blue steel.
One thing that you can be sure of...they won't have the same paint scheme in 2023. You love the bike...buy the bike. Anniversary models don't add much on the resale end so don't let that deter you. HD doesn't have to do anything special to sell the cvo's...I think a slightly bigger motor helps but I believe it's all the stuff that makes a person want a cvo. Go buy the bike before someone else does.
Does anyone actually think they’ll release next years model with a bigger motor?
Seeing as the ST now has the same engine capacity, I see it likely.
unless they go full on crazy and stick it with a revolution max engine 😂

These conversations start about this time every year. Someone will chime in and say it’s time for a new frame on the touring bikes with a mono-shock rear suspension. For 2022 there were so many conversations about the CVOs getting a 122 or large motor and HD made no real changes.
2023 will be an Anniversary year and there will be special paint colors on those bikes. HD is having their Anniversary party in July of 2023. Does HD do a special late release, July 2023, for the Anniversary?
Just a couple of thoughts, with no answer. What we do know is they will not offer a Blue Steel CVO in 2023. Good Luck in your decision.
