Engine cut off when coming to stop (getting worse)
2007 road king CVO. (Bone stock, no stage 1, no mapping changes that I know of)
I searched bike codes - no codes have been tripped and no current or historic issue. Just got part number for oil contamination in past, Speedo calibration, and turn signal module. These were just part numbers though.
Bike starts up great, goes 5-10 miles and occasionally when I come to a stop the engine cuts out.
This issue accelerates as I made a trip from NorCal to SoCal this past weekend. First thing I noticed was in traffic in 2nd/third I would be completely off the throttle and the bike seemed to be bang on 30 and not slowing down as it should be. Later on in the trip I noticed the bike cut power while doing 75mph for a split second and came back. The dash lights up and resets.
I was thinking around this point it was the temp sensor going crazy as I was in Merced where it was about 110 degrees and bike had been on for 4 hours.
The cutting off continued all day, got better when I rested the bike and let it cool off. Then I noticed it happening in cruise control, I would be able to ride for 5 ish miles but if I say up quickly it would cut.
started thinking it was throttle sensor when I would roll on heavy then as I let off and rpm's drop the bike would cut. Then I also noticed when I rolled on heavy and let off completely the bike would kinda jump as if I just popped the throttle.
in San Diego now, rode for 2 hours yesterday in the heat and it didn't happen at all. What do y'all think?
IAC valve is the problem. You can clean it up with some carb cleaner but you will, sooner or later, be replacing it. When you do, do yourself a huge favor and get the tank off the bike. Those " They's" say you can do it without removing it but I can assure you that you will regret not getting it out of the way.Its not a fun job but you can do it. I did mine and now looking to change out the breather bolts and get that nasty mist of oil and water from my throttle body. My 07 SERK is Black Ice, yours ?

Reporting that you rode for 2 hours yesterday in the heat and it didn't happen at all.
Have you performed any diagnostics?
Have you checked voltage at battery posts with a digital voltage reader to get...voltage at rest, voltage at low idle, voltage at high idle and voltage during cranking?
Have you removed and re-attached cables at terminals with the required spacers?
Have you checked the other two ends of battery cables? battery cable has 4 ends. Two are at battery.
Have you placed the bike in neutral and allowed it to idle while hitting hard parts with a rubber mallet to induce vibration? Basically forcing a loose connection to have a lose of contact.
