Owners should ALWAYS start by all the terms and conditions are explained in painstaking detail of what is and is not allowed in order for Owners to maintain their factory powertrain warranty .. I never struggled with comprehending it, but if one does then they should ask questions at dealerships and then if still confused call the HD customer service center to speak with a representative..that path of escalation is also explicitly explained in the OM as well in warranty section.. no matter what people buy, they should always start by always amazes me how so many don't seem to grasp that .. rant over..again
I'm not a genius and I didn't spend last night at a Holiday Inn ( or a Motel 6 ) but I consider myself to have at least average intelligence and probably a better than average vocabulary along with reading comprehension ... I'd venture a guess that many like me would have a struggle understanding all the "Lawyerese" that is compiled in the manual

well maybe I'm just
because I have never had difficulty comprehending what the MOCO is instructing and wanting its product owners to understand
I wasn't blaming him..simply trying to point out that the answers "Corporate" gave him were by the book, meaning already in his OM ..he was just double checking it all and better to be safe than sorry ... much wiser than some of the stories we hear about Owners just doing what a Parts or Service guy suggest & recommend and telling them it'll all just be fine and dandy, and believing that
that is the point, one CAN add all sorts of aftermarket parts and the bike will be fine. You will run out of warranty before anything requires the ever mentioned power train warranty. These are not the 70s shovelhead bikes. And as stated, there isnt one manufacturer of anything that really allows the purchaser to modify what they bought and claim a warranty. Use the wrong to the manufacturer whatever and youre ***-out. Why this is a constant question is bewildering. And then the hen talk of Harley denied me cause I used Costco gas over shell gas or some stupid remark with no further details. Its all BS, do whatever you want.
The last run around with HD and EPA/FTC on warranty. Was really only about HD making it clear they had to better explain what their words meant. And to better train dealers to knock off the BS like if you don't use HD ol and lube It could void warranty.
HD had trained them well not come right out a say it but they said it in other ways. And they still try.

Okee Dokee ... Between the Mothership and it's dealer network the ONE thing you/we can be sure of is that most/all of the time they aren't on the same page or even in the same book ... and that is a fact

now that I will not debate...getting consistent correct answers to simple questions at dealerships between Sales, Service and Parts personnel is ... well..you know
I will eventually sign up with Discount Esp, They covered about 12K on my 15 CVO, bike had lots of Mods and they didn't blink, they covered my lifter failure which took out the oil pump and cam, they also covered the catastrophic failure where entire engine had to be rebuilt, Lifter work done at HD, Engine rebuild done at my Builder. Payout was Instant.
