I know this question must have been asked several times but I can't find it anywhere on the site.
I have a 2008 SE ultra and want to get a exhaust sytem for it. Something that sounds great but where I won't get a headache from the noise and Cops. Any suggestions would be great!
There are all kinds of options for you, from full pipe to slip-ons. I've owned all kinds over the years. On my '07 CVO Road King currently running Supertrapp SE slip-ons. I evaluate exhaust on three measures... performance, appearance, sound. These slip-ons won a slip-on shootout among other slip-ons in a bagger magazine. In sheer high RPM HP/TQ they would probably fall slightly short of a full pipe, SERT, air cleaner mod, but would note H-D header pipes are quite efficient/optimized nowadays. For me, they really shine in the appearance and sound measures. But this can be very subjective. The FI adjusted to these slip-ons alone very well. Key -- I would get them again without hesitation. And for what you're looking for, keeping peace between the ears, among the neighbors, with the LEO's, they could be what you are looking for. Not as loud as many other exhaust alternatives.
I went with Reinhart True Duals on my 07 SE Ultra. Actually kind of quiet while cursing but really wake up when you get on it. Don't forget to do something with fuel control. I went with the Power Commander and custom dyno tune, Very Happy.
I just got Bub 7 slip ons on my 08 seuc. They're loud, but I don't think you'll get in any trouble as long as you don't crack the throttle. I posted a pic in the cvoharley exhaust section. I would do it here, but file size is too big.
